FIGTHING SKIN CANCER

In Mozambique, the lack of melanin in the skin of people with albinism turns the sun into a life-threatening danger. There are currently around 30,000 people living with albinism in the country—a rate 10 times higher than in Europe or North America. Furthermore, a severe shortage of dermatologists makes treating skin lesions incredibly challenging, leaving many to face severe cases of skin cancer.

To fight this profound injustice, we have joined forces with ISDIN and the Africa Directo Foundation in a comprehensive project to support the albinism community. This initiative will provide medical assistance, treatment, surgery for sun-induced lesions, and photoprotection education tailored to this high-risk group.

As a brand founded by a dermatologist, our mission to protect skin knows no borders. That is why we are joining this cause by contributing what we do best: protecting the skin and educating on the risks of inadequate sun exposure.

WE DONATED UPF50 T-SHIRTS TO PROTECT THEIR FUTURE

At Badawii, we believe that enjoying a peaceful and healthy life should not be a matter of resources. That is why we have chosen to take action and get involved in this transformative project to help people with albinism in Mozambique.

We have already donated UPF 50+ sun-protective shirts to the ONG África Directo, which will be distributed to the albinism community during the next medical expedition to the country. These garments will provide a vital physical barrier, protecting them from the sun during their daily activities.

JOINING THE EXPEDITION

Furthermore, our founder and dermatologist, Micaela Churruca, will personally travel to Mozambique to join the medical expeditions.

Micaela will work alongside the volunteer teams from ISDIN and África Directo, conducting dermatological screenings, diagnosing lesions, and personally delivering the protection these families urgently need.
